Jolene McCain Photography: About Me

I'm a Jesus lover (who cusses a little), a wife, a boy mom, a sugar addict, a Lab momma, and a gym enthusiast who loves capturing memories through family photography. My photography obsession began with disposable cameras and trips to Walmart for one-hour photo prints. Long before smartphones, I was busy documenting every moment and eagerly waiting to see how the photos turned out!

After losing my little brother in 2005 and experiencing Hurricane Rita, I realized just how priceless photographs can be. The images I had of him became some of my most treasured possessions and inspired me to protect and preserve every memory I could, fueling my passion for milestone photography.

Today, that same drive shapes my approach to photography. I believe the most meaningful photos aren't always perfect; they're the ones that transport you back to a moment, a feeling, or a person you never want to forget—whether it's during a family get-together or my son's sports photography sessions.

A few years after losing my little brother, my son was born. Having gone through that experience, I understood the significance of family photography. I wanted to cherish every smile, every laugh, every milestone, and yes, even the messy moments that come with raising boys.

So I picked up a digital camera, which was definitely a step up from my beloved disposable cameras! What began as a way to document my son's life quickly transformed into a passion and a fresh perspective on the world around me.

In 2011, with lots of encouragement from my husband, I launched my photography business focused on milestone photography. There was nothing quite like delivering a gallery and witnessing moms, families, and seniors relive some of their most cherished moments. Those reactions never got old.

In 2017, I decided to step away from photography to focus on family, work, and life for a while. Sometimes we all need a chance to breathe.

Then came 2022, bringing one of the biggest reality checks of motherhood—high school sports. Between football and lacrosse, I found myself regretting having sold all my camera gear! Before long, I was back behind the lens, diving into sports photography to capture big plays, hard-fought battles, and unforgettable moments that parents don’t want to miss.

But my favorite aspect of sports photography isn't just the action itself. It's the thrill of watching an athlete see themselves through my lens for the first time. The confidence, excitement, and pride that shine through make every hot afternoon and late night on the sidelines worth it.

So why am I here? Because photos matter. Because time moves way too fast. And because one kid with a football helmet and a lacrosse stick reminded me exactly why I fell in love with photography in the first place. 📸❤️

A family girl at heart, and these guys are my everything! They love and support all my dreams, whether it’s for family photography or milestone photography.
